NASB | 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God's judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God's love]. |
Subject: God loves that you love |
Bible Note: Yes fear and love go together. The fear here again is reverence not timidity or anxiety. Bible says The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom(Pro. 1:7. Wisdom teaches knowledge, the Knowledge of God is the Word of God (Jn 1:1). Knowing the word of God and doing them is the Love of God (1 Jn. 2:3,5 cf 5 :3) In Duet 10:12 God was admonishing His people to take His word as it comes, walk by it and obey it. This is the only way we can tell and show God that we love Him. Paul said to the Thessalonians that when they received the word of God the took as it as it was. They didn't try to make logic out of it but simply believed |
