NASB | 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. |
Bible Question: Is thinking of someone in a sexual way other than your husband, a sin? I know that the bible says that if you think it, then you might as well have done it. If this a sin is it still possible to get God's forgivness? Because one of the 10 Commandments is thou shall not commit adultery. I am really confused about this. Could you please help? |
Bible Answer: Yes, You are right the bible says that Mt 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. God forgiveness, yes but I dont think we do it again and again and asking forgiveness again and again. That verse is very wisely said by our Lord Jesus Christ, that we dont have to do it to commit sin. Christ already prohibit us to think lust to anyone, so that it will not start a spark to attempt or to commit adultery. If we always think of other woman or man aside from our spouse, we could be commit it in reality, so Christ Christ already prohibited that root of adultery. For example the 10 commandments said thou shalt not kill but Christ said: Mt 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. In that verse if we can see Christ already prohibit the root of hatred that can cause of killing. God bless, Johnny |
