Bible Question: If someone has accepted Jesus as their savior but then commits a sin, which they commited regularly before being born again, are they no longer born again? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Chipper, 1 John 1:8 tells us, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." Since this epistle was written to Christians (1 John 5:13), then it seems pretty clear that we cannot truthfully make the claim to have attained total sinless perfection in mortal life. However, we must make the effort to "disown" that sin and repent of it. We must not make the conscious choice to "live in" our sin perpetually, which will stunt our spiritual growth.
