AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. |
Subject: Who needs to repent? |
Bible Note: I appreciate you saying that I am right, but that is not what I said. Romans 8:2, in the NASB, says "The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus HAS SET you free from the law of sin and of death." It is not a future event. It has already happened. WE ARE FREE from the law of sin and of death. God did it, Himself. Note Romans 8:3-4, "For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, GOD DID: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, HE CONDEMNED SIN IN THE FLESH, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." (Romans 8:3-4, NASB, emphasis mine). We still sin but we are not under the law of sin and death. We won't perish. We are free from that law. That's the point. (see also John 3:16, 10:27-28, 1 Cor 1:18). |
