Bible Question: Anyone here heard of Dr. Rebecca Brown, she has written a series of books on santanism and the Christian believer. Do you think this book is trash or important. My mother-in-law wants me to read it because she thinks satnism is real and we must know what's out there so that we can be equipped to battle. Any thoughts? |
Bible Answer: Hi Journey Me, I have not read these books, so I cannot comment on them, except to say that your should be extremely careful reading things like these, because there is much out there that is not Biblical. Should you read them, check everything against scripture. Before you read them, study what the Bible says first. 2Pe 1:2 Grace to you, and peace be multiplied by a full knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. 2Pe 1:3 As His divine power has given to us all things pertaining to life and godliness through the full knowledge of the One calling us through glory and virtue, 2Pe 1:4 by which means He has given to us the very great and precious promises, so that through these you might be partakers of the divine nature, escaping from the corruption in the world by lust. God has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. As you continue in your discipleship, growing closer to God, more like Him, He makes you capable to handle everything that comes into your life. There is a spiritual warfare. Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; You don't have to know "what's out there". If you did, God would have given more detail in the Bible. Theology and doctrine were not lacking until Dr. Brown wrote her books. What you have to know is who you are in Christ, and what His purpose for your life is. Pray about this, and listen to the Spirit inside you. If He directs you to read these books, read them, prayerfully, comparing to scripture. If He doesn't, then stay away from them. The main thing is to read, study, and meditate on the Bible. If you do that, God will give you all you need. I hope this helps. Love in Christ, Mark |
