AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Peter 4:14 If you are insulted and reviled for [bearing] the name of Christ, you are blessed [happy, with life-joy and comfort in God's salvation regardless of your circumstances], because the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you [and indwelling you--He whom they curse, you glorify]. Subject: Reviled IN the name of Christ? |
Bible Note: For John 12:42, where it is translated, "they were not confessing [Him]," how much is the pronoun implied? Could it also be translated, "they were not confessing their belief", or "confessing their faith?" Ray - although v 41 identifies Christ, it seems to me that the pronoun "Him" is necessary - for what good it it to confess belief or faith w/o an object? If we take Jesus out of our faith what do we have? Dead faith. Perhaps we need to be reminded of this and that is why "Him" is emphasized - just a thought. Blessings, mommapbs |
