AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Peter 4:14 If you are insulted and reviled for [bearing] the name of Christ, you are blessed [happy, with life-joy and comfort in God's salvation regardless of your circumstances], because the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you [and indwelling you--He whom they curse, you glorify]. Bible Question:
My Greek/English Interlinear by J.P.Green, Sr has this rendering for 1 Peter 4:14, "If you are reviled in (the) name of Christ, (you are) blessed, because the Spirit of God and of glory rests on you. Truly, according to them, He is blasphemed, but according to you, He is glorified." Getting back to my original question, "How does this relate to our being reviled IN the name of Christ?" Bible Answer: Greetings Ray - when one is "in the name of Christ" can we agree that this would identify the individual as a Christ follower? Why would anyone be reviled if he/she were not "in" Christ? Seems to me that when someone is "in" Christ one is fair game for the enemy! This is an assurance of our salvation (because the Spirit of God and of glory rests on you)of a sort don't you think? Praying God's blessings upon you dear brother! mommapbs |
