AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Peter 3:1 In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands [subordinate, not as inferior, but out of respect for the responsibilities entrusted to husbands and their accountability to God, and so partnering with them] so that even if some do not obey the word [of God], they may be won over [to Christ] without discussion by the godly lives of their wives, [Eph 5:22] |
Bible Question: There are many passages in the Bible concerning a wife submitting to her husband. Are there any passages that tell a woman what to do or how to act torward her husband, when he is not a godly or christlike man ? |
Bible Answer: I believe in 1 Pet 3:1 it speaks of what your conduct is to be towards your husband. It is by the behavior of their wives that they may be won. It speaks of doing this without a word. In v.2 as they observe (watching) your chaste and respectful behavior. So there are key words in there that describe how the wives are to behavior towards their husbands, whether they are saved or not. |
