AMPLIFIED 2015 1 Peter 2:12 Keep your behavior excellent among the [unsaved] Gentiles [conduct yourself honorably, with graciousness and integrity], so that for whatever reason they may slander you as evildoers, yet by observing your good deeds they may [instead come to] glorify God in the day of visitation [when He looks upon them with mercy].

Bible Question:  Dear Jesusman,

Greetings in the name of Jesus!

Friend, I agree with you about Christians showing forth a worldly attitude. Indeed, we cannot preach about freedom from evil when we act evil ourselves!

But what about this? Those Christians whose 'religious zeal' (as compared to Christian charity, service and humility) is a nuisance, causing the Gentiles to be 'turned away' from Christ because of self-righteousness or judgmentalism. Could this also fall into the same category?

In either case, insensitive and self-serving (un-excellent behavior!) Christians can cause more damage than help to the furthering of the Gospel.

In Christ Jesus, charis

Bible Answer:  I dont want to argue but I just wanted to say that I dont think a christian can have too much zeal that Christ would turn away from them, men in a carnal nature, yes. I also dont think that a true Christian who is walking in the light and doing God's will can hurt the cause. Satan will decieve many with Christ's own word. He knows it better than most. If you see "christians acting in a worldly matter then I submit they are not right with God and Jesus does not know them. There will be no lite where there is darkness. You will witness no more or no less the Love of Christ in a true Christian who is living as God commands. We can still sin especially if we are babes in Christ, but As we grow God sanctifies us holy to where we can freely choose not to any more. So if it talks or walks like a christian it may not always be. Satan wants to destoy us and Christ's image in christian so He uses people who seems to be--false prophets. Thanks for letting me vent. In Christ, Steve
