NASB | Joshua 20:6 'He shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the one who is high priest in those days. Then the manslayer shall return to his own city and to his own house, to the city from which he fled.'" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Joshua 20:6 'He shall live in that city until he has stood before the congregation for judgment [and if acquitted of murder he must stay there], until the death of the one who is the high priest in those days. Then the offender (manslayer) shall return to his own city and his own house from which he fled.'" |
Bible Question: What is the significance of the death of the high priest in this verse? Could this be a forshadowing of Jesus? |
Bible Answer: Fareshadowing of Christ........................ I see the picture as those condemned by the Law (therefore punishable by death) who had fled to the city of refuge (God Himself) until that time when the high priest (Lord Jesus) died, thus releasing the debt. There's probably other ways to see this. Steve |
