Bible Question (short): Why are 3 tribes left behind? Josh 1:12 |
Question (full): I am new to really delving deeply into the Word of God. At this time I am studying the Book of Joshua, and would like to better understand the significance and history of the Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh. (Joshua 1:12) Why are these tribes given the land on the other side of the Jordan instead of crossing over to possess the same land as the rest of the tribes of Israel? What is the significance of the "half-tribe" of Manasseh? (I know that Reuben and Gad are Jacob's 1st born and 7th born sons by Leah and her maid Zilpah, and Manasseh is Joseph's oldest son - though Ephraim was blessed first by Jacob - and both were taken by Jacob as his own sons. What Bible verses and other tools can I study to obtain more information on these tribes? Thank you, and may the LORD continue to bless you with His wisdom and understanding in all things in Christ Jesus. AMEN Deborah Psalm 19:7-14 |
