Bible Question: In chapter one of Job, we see that he asks god to forgive the sins of his children. Are we able to ask for the forgiveness of other peoples sins towards God as well today? Thank You |
Bible Answer: Hi. Seeking forgiveness of sin is an individual matter. The sinner must be the one seeking forgiveness, not someone in his/her place. RO 10:8 But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, RO 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; RO 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 1JN 1:5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 1JN 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 1JN 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1JN 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1JN 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1JN 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. Yet like Brother John stated, PRAY for the person. 1TI 2:8 Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Brad |
