Subject: Elders anointing sick with oil. |
Bible Note: justme, About two years ago I anointed and prayed for my sister in-law after she had a severe stroke. She was uncontious and did not wake while I was there. She is now bound to a wheelchair and her daughter has moved her away to take care of her in another state. This past December I rushed from work to the hospital to anoint and pray for an elderly woman member of my church. But I was too late. As I arrived, her son was on his way towards his car. He informed me that she had just past away. Her's was the only funeral that I have performed so far after only one year as pastor. I am determined to pray, fast, and anoint the sick while exhibiting faith on God to give them a full recovery. I believe that God wants me to have faith first and formost, then the sick will have less reason to doubt. It is good to lead them in death bed confession of sin. But their confession and conversion is the greatest miracle that they can recieve. If we can have the faith for the greater thing (salvation), then why not for the smaller thing (healing) also? Anointing with oil may be an act of obedience, but it shows faith to obey God. Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." Galatians 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him." Heb 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |
