NASB | James 4:2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 4:2 You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your lust goes unfulfilled; so you murder. You are envious and cannot obtain [the object of your envy]; so you fight and battle. You do not have because you do not ask [it of God]. [1 John 3:15] |
Bible Question: where in the bible does it say "you have not because you ask not". and what it is it refering to? |
Bible Answer: Scripture .... James 4:1 "What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?" -- vs 2 "You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask". -- vs 3 "You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures". God's day to you, Sabrina Daniels, and welcome to teh SBF, It is brought in in the negative ... we don't ask and when we do it is with the wrong motive ... even the other things in the verses I cited are negative.
