Bible Question:
My NASB Bible (Zodhiates Key Word Study Bible) has several differences from all of the online versions I look at and I was wondering what the reason was behind that. For example, James 1:6 in my Bible states "But let him ask in faith without any doubting...". All online versions that I have looked at state "But he must ask in faith without any doubting...". There are many others like this. I know it is a small thing but my daughter is memorizing scripture and I have chosen the NASB as the best translation for her to do so. I would hate to find that she has been memorizing something wrong. Any ideas what is going on here? Thank you Lance Albury |
Bible Answer: Lance, You have the classic NASB, which reads as follows: James 1:6 6But let him ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. NAS The updated version (NASU) is what you are finding online: James 1:6 6But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
