Bible Question:
Hello, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, My question is a little personal, but I'm desperate. I have read this Scripture for years and asked for wisdom. I have problems, though, because I feel like I cannot hear God. I might also mention that I'm bipolar and have had problems with my emotions and feelings. I feel like I can't discern and hear God. I read the Word daily and seek what it says. I work on what it tells me God wants me to be and how He wants my heart to be before Him. But others talk of God speaking to them and speaking to their hearts. Am I the only one that this doesn't happen to? Even when I feel that it was God speaking to me I think over it again and again until I don't know if it was God or just over-thinking. Please help! I really want to be what God wants, but spend much time in confusion, thinking that I have missed out on God's rhema word to me, because I analyze it out of my mind. |
Bible Answer: Dear Lissamz: I know what you mean when you say people are always talking about God speaking to them and speaking to their hearts. The following comments may be true for some people not all. Be aware that this is a language that people learn in their circles. I have known people to hide behind the language. Its an image they want to project if you will. Its a way also of keeping people at arm's length. Instead of just forming boundaries they use this form of talk to feel good about themselves and their families and friends. It has nothing to do with God speaking to them because when you look closely they admit they do not read much less study the bible. Find a new circle of friends. Those whose daily practices is to study the word and are humble. Sincerely, Val |
