NASB | Hebrews 6:6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 6:6 and then have fallen away--it is impossible to bring them back again to repentance, since they again nail the Son of God on the cross [for as far as they are concerned, they are treating the death of Christ as if they were not saved by it], and are holding Him up again to public disgrace. |
Bible Question:
What are peoples Ideas on once Saved always Saved? Say someone becomes a Christian, is legitimate in his decision, passionate for christ etc but then he falls and renounces his faith in God! Does he go to Hell if he died? Cheers All |
Bible Answer: Hello Pete, The pros and cons of your question has been debated exhaustively on this forum. But it is a legitmate question and I am happy to respond to it. I have discovered that, often, the side that one comes down on depends on the person's understanding of how we are saved to begin with. Are we saved because of our decision or God's? If it was our choice to trust Christ that tipped the balence and caused the pearly gates to open, then I suppose we could cause them to close by choosing to withdraw our trust in Him. However, if our decision was reached as a result of God's choosing us, then we may rest assured that He would never leave or forsake us. So, I would say, the way we view salvation (as well as many other doctrines) depends on whether our theology is man-centered or God-centered. God Bless, John Reformed |
