NASB | Hebrews 4:14 ¶ Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 4:14 ¶ Inasmuch then as we [believers] have a great High Priest who has [already ascended and] passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith and cling tenaciously to our absolute trust in Him as Savior]. |
Bible Question:
Can holding fast to our confession of faith in Him also include holding fast to his promises we have confessed with our mouth? For example, having confessed I am the healed of the Lord (in the midst of the challenge). Would holding fast include not allowing my confession of healing (in Him) to change while waiting for the manifestation? Or is this strictly talking about my confession of salvation in Him? |
Bible Answer: I believe this Scripture can be proclaimed by the believer for any need we may have. Jesus holds His priesthood permanently, sympathizing with believers' temptations and aiding us in our needs. Here's a few Scriptures that back this up; Heb. 2:18 - For because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted (tested and tried), He is able [immediately] to run to the cry of (assist, relieve) those who are being tempted and tested and tried [and who therefore are being exposed to suffering]. Heb. 4:15-16 - (15)For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. (16) Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. Amazing isn't it?! In Christ, SRP |
