NASB | Hebrews 13:17 ¶ Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 13:17 ¶ Obey your [spiritual] leaders and submit to them [recognizing their authority over you], for they are keeping watch over your souls and continually guarding your spiritual welfare as those who will give an account [of their stewardship of you]. Let them do this with joy and not with grief and groans, for this would be of no benefit to you. |
Bible Question:
Dear Brethren, Is it right for a pastor or a minister of God to rebuke just a few members (who happened to be leaders) in his Sunday sermon/teaching? I don't expect him to do it because prior to that we have personal talk and he never gave me a hint that he has something against me. Am a born again Christian from the Philippines. Thanks. ROD |
Bible Answer: Dear Rod, We aren't really a forum that provides counselling. Instead, we focus on study of the Word. However, perhaps the above verse might be helpful. Your pastor has every right to bind your conscience by the Word of God. He will one day have to give account for those for whom he is responsible. Pray that the Lord will reveal in you that which might be in error. Pray also for your pastor that God will be glorified in His ministry. Though experience is no certain guide, I do know from my own that God has frequently used those in authority over me to show me my blind spots, error, and sin. In Him, Doc |
