Bible Note: CDBJ, I see you did your homework. Barabbas was a sinner – destined to die for his actions – as I was before I knew Christ. Jesus died on the cross literally in Barabbas’ place – as He also did for me. The similarities end there, Barabbas was allowed to live in this world, and I would hope that the life of Jesus and His death in the place of Barabbas had changed his life so he doesn’t have to be judged for the terrible things he has done on earth – but in the biblical story of the sacrificial death of Jesus – I would say Barabbas represents us all (all those who put their faith in Jesus Christ). Also his name intrigued me. As your post indicates, the meaning of Barabbas is son of the father. When I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I became a son of the Father. Initially I thought you were upset at my answer, but after reading it again I realized that you were asking me to give biblical reference to my answers. I had no problems with your post. Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. God Bless you, -Barabbas- |
