Bible Question: Does this mean that an elder/pastor must never have been divorced, and if they have, do they forfeit their position in the church? The implications are staggering for a church striving to be holy and always in the true will of God! |
Bible Answer: YES. This also is seen in 1 Timothy 3:1-13. Some will say that just as long he does not remarry, he may still serve. There are some who say, if he is single, he may serve as an elder/pastor or deacon. But I see the Bible as being very clear. It is not just the divorced man who is disqualified. |
