Subject: Help, parents need encouragement! |
Bible Note: Hank: I respect you highly, and it is with tenderness I am responding to you. I am responding to you as an Elder. I am not sure why there has been such a resounding theme that I do not think Scripture alone is Gods Word. I am in total agreement with THE CHICAGO STATEMENT ON BIBLICAL INERRANCY. I don't know of a more forceful and authoritive and detailed Statement of Scriptual trustworthiness and affirmation of inerrancy. I was asking for a book written by someone who had experienced the same hurt, as these parents feel so ashamed they are very discouraged. I saw nothing wrong in that. There are many Christian authors that use Scripture to base their books, and share how the Lord helped them with suffering of all kinds. I assure you and the forum these people are not looking for an easy fix. I do believe the Lord has used Christian authors to supplement what Scripture says. I was in no way attempting to be "somewhat critical of other users who had unequivocally cited the Bible above all other books..." I am amazed that the negative reaction in my asking if anyone knew of a book that could be helpful. I stated that these were Biblical Christians and the hurt was deep, and I simply wanted to give them something to see how someone else has done is such a situation. After reading a number of false assumptions, and criticisms, I am saddened. If we are to say that only the Bible is to be used to help us in our problems then we allow no other Christians to help us bare our burdens. I believe James 5:13-20 suggests we are to help one another. Galations 5:6, Matthew 25:40, James 2:15-17, Hebrews 13:16, John 13:34-35, are just a few verses that I consider Scriptures that give us reason to help a couple in need, be that material, physical or spiritual needs. I never even suggested that the Bible is anything but the higest, pure source of all our needs. Anything less is human and subject to the change in culture, and written by sinful mankind. I would not attempt to list the soild Christian authors, many I am sure you know and have read. I mean no insult to you in anyway whatsoever. I am but a beginner in my study of Scripture, compared with the Biblical knowledge many in the Study Bible Forum, I do not deny my shortcomings. What I find so bothersome is how easy it was to have negative, critical assumptions made against me. I am very concerned that rather than asking me for more information, or even saying someone would pray for this couple, the majority were faulting the lack of trust in Scripture, which most certianly not the case at all. I love you dearly my brother Hank! If I have offended you or others, that is not my intention. I desire a deeper understanding into what and why I was asking for help. Blessings to you and all. justme |
