AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God's will, both publicly and privately--behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; |
Bible Question: I've been asked a number of moral questions recently (specifically about homosexuality) and was told to only use the Gospels as support. The logic was that the "letters" may be colored by the views of the "author" (even admitting that the true Author was God, it was suggested that the human author's views would have gotten in there). Any suggestions on how to respond? |
Bible Answer: I agree with the answers you received -- that all scripture is valuable for reproof and teaching. However, for those trying to justify homosexuality, how about the Biblical definition of marriage whcih can be found in Matthew 19:4-6 and Mark 10:6-9 Here is Matthew -------------------- Matt 19:4 And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, Matt 19:5 and said, 'FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH'? Matt 19:6 "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." --------------------- Notice God "made them male and female" and "a man ... joined with his wife" If it had been Gods intention, He could have created Man and Man -- but He didn't. -Chris |
