NASB | 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God's will, both publicly and privately--behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; |
Bible Question: I know this, but to use this answer, I'm using non-gospel quotations to support the use of non-gospel quotations. I don't know where this "only Gospels are authority" thing comes from, maybe it shouldn't stump me - there's got to be a rational response out there that can answer this... I just don't know it. |
Bible Answer: To say that only part of the scriptures are profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness is to say that other parts are not. This is (IS) a false teaching. The Word of God IS the Word of God. If you do not accept All scripture as whole then you do not accept God as whole. Christ is the word, the bible. And if you do not believe that, and if you do not believe that the bible is the living word of God, and is God, then you cannot believe in Christ who is the bible, the living word of God, and you do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you. Fore he will testify that Christ and the word, the bible are one. John 1 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. |
