AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God's will, both publicly and privately--behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; |
Bible Question: Do we literally believe ALL scripture is Profitable |
Bible Answer: In the final scheme of things, man is not the judge and jury of Scripture; what he says about it carries little weight in the world at large, but what he thinks about it can lead either to salvation in heaven or condemnation in hell. It's what God says about Scripture that really counts. He says that all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable. We can believe it or not. If we refuse to believe parts of the Bible, we may as well refuse to believe any of it. Why? Because the Bible says ALL Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable. When any "wiser-than-God" finite, flawed and sinful human being refuses to believe all the Bible, but only the parts he likes or agrees with, he is in effect saying that 2 Timothy 3:16 is wrong and thus calling God a liar. That's how it is. God does not give us a middle ground; He does not negotiate; He does not compromise His truth. Jesus said it best: "He who is not with Me is against Me." (Matt. 12:30) --Hank |
