Bible Question:
2 Tim. 3:12 says; "Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." From the above verse, my question is: Does the fear of persceution, keep us from living a more godly life? The promise in the verse is not might be persecuted, but rather "will be persecuted" Your thoughts please Grace be with you zach† |
Bible Answer: Dear Zach, Thanks for the great question! In Eph 6 we are told to stand with armour, and armour is put on when we read the Bible. Everything goes back to the Word. Jesus withstood Satan because of the Word and so shall we if we diligently study and it is God's will. I believe the more you read the Bible, the more truth will be taught to you by the Holy Spirit and the more you will be persecuted as your understanding grows. You ask,"Does the fear of persceution, keep us from living a more godly life?" I would say perhaps in some it may and this brings to mind the parable of the sower in Mark 4 as follows, Mark 4:14-20 14 The sower soweth the word. 15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. 16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. 18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. 20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. KJV I recently put together some verses you may enjoy as follows, 1 Peter 4:1-2 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. KJV 1 Peter 4:12-13 12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. KJV Wasn't Jesus put on trial daily and one final time?,just my thoughts. Bless you, Love Fountain Jer 4:14 |
