Bible Question:
did theologians understand the biblical concept of the number seven prior to the 1800's? a teacher friend of mine has suggested to me that the biblical concept of sevens was first discovered in the bible by the occultist helena blavatsky in her book called 'the secret doctrine' which was authored in the 1800's, and that theologians of today merely followed her lead in the understanding of the concept of the number seven. did theologians understand the biblical concept of the number seven prior to the 1800's? |
Bible Answer: Hello vncnt blzn, Interesting question, my friend. Just so I understand, can you clarify what exactly is "the biblical concept of the number seven"? I'm not aware it's even a significant doctrine! Two things in response: 1. Who is this teacher friend of yours and where are they getting their information? No, Orthodox Evangelical theologian is following anything of "her lead"; 2. I assure you, Helena Blavatsky did not "discover" the biblical concept of sevens- whatever that means! The only thing she ultimately discovered, was that there is a God and there is a payment due for the wages of sin! (Rom. 6:23); Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
