NASB | 2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 1:9 for He delivered us and saved us and called us with a holy calling [a calling that leads to a consecrated life--a life set apart--a life of purpose], not because of our works [or because of any personal merit--we could do nothing to earn this], but because of His own purpose and grace [His amazing, undeserved favor] which was granted to us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago], |
Subject: Are there different heavenly rewards? |
Bible Note: Would it be correct to interpret the workers in the vineyard story as "heaven itself as the reward?" If we accept Christ, even on our death bed, and we do it with sincerity and truth, then heaven IS our reward. The same reward as someone who chose to accept Christ when they were 8 years old. Whether we accept Him early or late, the reward is the same, ie. heaven itself. God being a just and righteous God, He rewards us with His grace and takes us to His heavenly home. This may leave an unanswered question about the reward which may differ for some....once in heaven. Your thoughts? |
