NASB | 2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 1:9 for He delivered us and saved us and called us with a holy calling [a calling that leads to a consecrated life--a life set apart--a life of purpose], not because of our works [or because of any personal merit--we could do nothing to earn this], but because of His own purpose and grace [His amazing, undeserved favor] which was granted to us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago], |
Bible Question:
Can someone help me with scriptural support or denial of levels of reward in heaven. Based on the judgement we will all face, and our salvation through Christ Jesus, how do we understand being judged? Are there different rewards for different people based on their works on earth? Thank you very much, Big Al |
Bible Answer: My answer........................................... Hi Big Al, There does seem to be scriptural support that some people will have more reward in Heaven than others. Check out the passage (1 Cor 3:11-15) where it talks about the work that we build on Christ's foundation surviving as gold, silver, etc. However, the work that is on any other foundation, such as ourselves, will be burned up. There are also the places where Jesus tells us to store up treasure in Heaven (Matt 6:20). I assume that some people follow that command more than others. |
