Bible Question: What gives evidence that the holy spirit dwells in a Christian? |
Bible Answer: One evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit is a sensitivity to sin. Sin grieves the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) and his reaction is felt in our spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts us of sin and leads us to Christ. When we repent and believe and are saved, he comes to live permanently in us. One of his functions is to clarify want sin is and to alert us to guard against its intrusion in our lives. Another evidence of his presence is our assurance of salvation. The Spirit witnesses with our spirit that we are a child of God (Rom 8:16). Another evidence of his presence is the fact we are able to understand the word of God (1 Corinthians 2:10-12).
