Bible Question:
Heresy was not the point. Who is qualified to set the standard as to what is beyond contentment? I'm not saying that it's right or wrong to wear "fancy clothes". I'm wanting to know, who is qualified to say what is too much to spend? Who can judge another man's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Content means self suffucient. It means that you are are seeing to your own things and not putting your nose into other peoples business. We are commanded to mind our own business and to work with our own hands that we may walk properly and LACK NOTHING. 1 thes. 4 No one can look into the heart of another man and discern his motives. That should be sufficient to keep us from deciding whether or not our brother has the "wrong reasons" for wearing "designer clothes". |
Bible Answer: In the Andes: In regard to 1 Thessalonians4:12 it says "so that you will not be dependant on anybody." NIV. You are to live to glorify God. I think the simple truth is if some Christian says they feel offended is reason to make a change. If you are having others make judgements on how much you spend then perhaps there is a problem? I find if I ask Jesus to revale some area I need to change, the Holy Spirit will make it known to me. I personally ware all Walmart clothes. Tennis shoes ten dollars, pants twenty two. shirt eight dollars. I am quite content and comfortable, which is what I want. However our teenage daughter is a different matter. But, we make her buy lady like clothes that don't make her look like a street walker, which is so wide spred here.We do compremise at times. There people I know in La Paz, Bolivia that are lucky to have the very basic for clothing. Hope this helps agape, justme |
