Bible Question:
Are there many pastors (or ex-pastors) on this Forum who have been "wounded" by their congregation or District Superintendent or overseeing board of directors for "political reasons" and have been forced out from fulfilling their calling as pastors? If so, how is the church to minister to a pastor and his family who is among the 'walking wounded'? Are there places for pastors and their families (who have been burnt before in the past) to fulfill their calling? |
Bible Answer: THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION. WE RECENTLY HAD A SITUATION WHERE OUR PASTOR STEPPED DOWN FOR HIS OWN REASONS AND OUR INTERIM PASTOR ASSUMED DUTIES. BUT , THER WERE BY-LAWS SET UP BY THE BODY OF THE CHURCH AND WE HAD TO UPHOLD THEM. IN THE MAEN TIME , OUR INTERIM WAS "POLITICING" FOR VOTES FOR HIMSELF. DURING ONE SERVICE HE HAD AN OLDER GENTLEMAN STAND UP AND SAY THAT HE WOULD LIKE TO VOTE HIM IN. COULD HAVE BEEN INNOCENT, BUT HE DID NOT STOP WHAT WAS GOING ON. FOR ONE THING WE HAD A VISITING PASTOR SPEAKING WHO'S NAME WAS BEING VOTED ON. THE INTERIM PROCEDED TO PROVOKE THE BODY AND HURT THE VISITING PASTOR. |
