Subject: "This subject of election...." |
Bible Note: As I matured in my walk with the Lord the subject of election became a big question mark. I posted my question on this forum and I found the answers to be extreme from both sides. The following has been the best explanation I have ever heard and I wanted to share it with you all. "This subject of election...has been debated by the best of Theologians for all the centuries and it is a definite paradox of scripture....Many times we want to reduce it down to our finite minds..but it is something we simply must trust a just and fair God with. We must know from scripture that we are chosen...and God is the initiator and provider even of the faith so we can believe....But I believe that God has a role and man has a responsibility. God's role....He wills John 1:12-13 He draws John 6:44 He chooses Ephe l:4 and II Thess 2:13 He saves..II Tim l:9 Just like in sanctification...does God override our will to make us like Him..We must cooperate with the Spirit by obedience to be sanctified....and We are responsible for our sin...John 3:18 Rev. 20:12-13. Again, people who reject the gospel and not excused because they are not elect...they are responsible for their sin...We can not reconcile all of this in our minds...but scripture teaches it and we must accept it by faith....At salvation...God is the one who enables us to believe...but we make a conscious decision of the will to turn and repent......."
