Bible Question: My husband has hardly worked in 4 years, this is a tremendous burden on me and my children. He keeps telling me that God will "give" him a job and he won't look for one until God gives him what he wants him to do. I keep searching the scriptures to see if this is true. I know I am to submit to him, but is that true? Am I suppose to support him while he waits for God to give him a job? I think he has to look for one and God will lead him "to" a job. Am I wrong? He tells me that I have no faith and I should trust in him as he is head of the house. Someone please help me - I pray so much about this I am afraid I am begging and not receiving an answer from asking too much! |
Bible Answer: I feel your burden on this which is why I'm willing to answer. Yes you are to be submissive, but the role of the husband is to provide for his family also. I have asked God to lead me to jobs however I went out looked and tried them out. If it worked out I felt it was for me from God, if not then I moved on. Scripture also says in 1 Timothy 5:8, if a man does not provide for his family he is worse than an unbeliever. Christians mostly get made fun of for examples like these, not persecution because of beliefs in God. I will pray with you also that you make the right decisions and that He will lay it on your husband's heart to provide for his family. With love in Jesus, |
