Bible Question: My husband has hardly worked in 4 years, this is a tremendous burden on me and my children. He keeps telling me that God will "give" him a job and he won't look for one until God gives him what he wants him to do. I keep searching the scriptures to see if this is true. I know I am to submit to him, but is that true? Am I suppose to support him while he waits for God to give him a job? I think he has to look for one and God will lead him "to" a job. Am I wrong? He tells me that I have no faith and I should trust in him as he is head of the house. Someone please help me - I pray so much about this I am afraid I am begging and not receiving an answer from asking too much! |
Bible Answer: I would take him to II Thess 3:10 6In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. 7For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. 10For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." |
