Bible Question:
1) The letter of 2 Thessalonians has eleven occurances of the "Lord Jesus Christ" in the NKJ. 2) 2 Thessalonians 1:7, talks about when "the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels. Topic: I believe that it is significant that it could be stated that this is the only verse that does not have "Christ" after the Lord Jesus. I would like to encourage reflection on comparing 2 Thessalonians 1:7 with 2 Thessalonians 2:6 and 7. Are there any thoughts about this comparison? From the heart, Ray |
Bible Answer: Ray, 2Th 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In this verse I see Paul exhorting the church to stand and wait for the end of their tribulation when they all will be reunited at Jesus's coming. 2Th 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. In these verses I see Paul exhorting the church that - in time - the anti-christ will be revealed when - that time - is right but, be aware that the work of the devil is already at hand and is working within the church. Again the church finds corruption brewing within herself: 1. The Pharasees at the Temple in Jerusalem; 2. Judas within the twelve; 3. The papacy at Rome As with our fight for our salvation it seems that our worst enemy always comes from within. The flesh within us and the infiltration of deceit and gile in the church. (Mat 26:41 MKJV) Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Peace terrib |
