Bible Question: My boyfriend and I are christian teenagers. We read the bible, go to church, etc. We want to follow the word, but as teenagers in love we have desires for each other. We want to know how far we can go without going completely over the limit (fingering, etc.). |
Bible Answer: Scripture teaches us to avoid temptation. There are many references in the Bible of the effect upon us. Here are a few references which provide guidance in understanding and dealing with temptation; James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. Matt 26:41 "Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Luke 22:40 When He arrived at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation." Luke 8:13 "Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. Luke 22:46 and said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation." The Bible teaches restraint. Knowing we will be tempted, study scriptures, pray and pray again. |
