NASB | Colossians 3:5 ¶ Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Colossians 3:5 ¶ So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God]. |
Bible Question:
Fellow people, I have been wondering about this subject for a while but have failed to find the answer. The question is rather awkward and may hurt some peoples' feelings. I'm warning you. My question is, is it against God's word/sin to masturbate? Please answer in order to help me become a complete Christian and a soldier of the Lord's army. |
Bible Answer: ripken: The question has been asked several times before, so it is highly unlikely that the old-time regulars on the Forum will be shocked by it. Perhaps you would be interested in reading a number of posts on the subject. Simply use Quick Search and type in the word masturbate. Also masturbation and masterbation (a common misspelling). You may or may not find what you are looking for and you may not agree with the views expressed. This Forum is not the definitive last word on every biblical topic by any means. A large number of the posts are good and biblically supported; some are neither. --Hank |
