AMPLIFIED 2015 | Colossians 3:5 ¶ So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God]. |
Bible Question:
Fellow people, I have been wondering about this subject for a while but have failed to find the answer. The question is rather awkward and may hurt some peoples' feelings. I'm warning you. My question is, is it against God's word/sin to masturbate? Please answer in order to help me become a complete Christian and a soldier of the Lord's army. |
Bible Answer: God built us with internal sexual desires; yet, He also has provided us with ways to fulfill those desires outside of sin. The Bible plainly states that sexual desires should be fulfilled only through lawful marriage between a man and a woman. The fact of the matter is; masturbation is a result of uncontrolled sexual desires and thus is a sin. It also often leads to other carnal sins. Read what Paul writes throughout his letters to the ancient church. The spirit of his messages are self-control and obedience. Finally; it is important to note that we all sin and cannot work our way into heaven. None are perfect; but we should always strive for perfection. |
