Bible Question:
Authority to Ask God for One's Needs "We believe in the authority of the believer to ask freely of the Lord for his needs." Do you agree with the above statement of belief? Please include biblical references for why you do or do not agree. Grace to you, Kalos |
Bible Answer: Based on the following, I would disagree. Luke 11: 1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. God’s will be done. Matthew 6: 31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Seek the Kingdom of God and God knowing what we need will provide. 1 John 5: 14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. God hears us because we ask according to His will. Acts 20: 34Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. 35I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Philippians 4: 17Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. 19But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. But then I came across Mark 11:24. Mark 11: 24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. But realized their was a qualification for that in Mark 11:22. Mark 11: 22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. Having faith in God will have us desiring Godly things. Our desire will be for God’s will to be done. WOS |
