Bible Question:
Authority to Ask God for One's Needs "We believe in the authority of the believer to ask freely of the Lord for his needs." Do you agree with the above statement of belief? Please include biblical references for why you do or do not agree. Grace to you, Kalos |
Bible Answer: Hi Kalos, I believe this is a valid statement based on Heb. 2:18 and Heb 4:15-17. The Lord's prayer in Matthew, specifically vs 11 - give us this day our daily bread - is an example of making request for needs to be met. Matthew 7:7 and James 4:2 also support this in my view. James 4:2 claims that when we seek for our needs and even desires to be met outside of God, then it is because we are lusting which results in sinful behavior, specifically murder. And even if we do ask with impure motives we won't get. [vs 3] So not only do we have this priviledge, God needs to be our source; the one we trust in for all that we need for we read in... 2 Peter 1:3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. This is probably not the only biblical support, but its a start. :-) Be blessed, Bows44 |
