NASB | Philippians 2:7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 2:7 but emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man]. |
Subject: Must Christ have had a human nature? |
Bible Note: Ahh, the exciting world of the language barrier. Yes, I probably was using the NIV. I usually use that, The King James, or The Amplified. We need to think of Jesus as a man because He was the link between God and man. This is represented in the 4 creatures found in Revelation 4:6-9. For seems to be the number of redemption and these 4 creatures all correspond with an aspect or name of Christ. Also, I believe they all correspond with how Christ is depicted in each of the gospels, but I can't find my notes on that. 1. Lion -Lion of Judah, power, He is a king 2. Calf -Servant of Man, sacrifice, died for our sins 3. Man -Son of Man, interceder, represents man to God 4. Eagle, Son of God, highest heavenly being, represents God to man Also, Jesus is our example. He kept the Law perfectly. Him being perfect in His humanity, being without sin, is how He was blameless and with out blemish, thus a worthy sacrifice. I enjoy the opportunity to give my input just as much as you welcome it. I'd love to talk more and help you in your quest for the truth. You seem well educated in the word. Jesified |
