AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 2:7 but emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man]. |
Bible Question: Did Adam and Eve have a human nature when they were created? |
Bible Answer: "but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” Philippians 2:7 In this verse is Paul saying that Jesus was made in human likeness, which may or may not answer you question, but I'll explain some on the subject of Him being human and maybe that'll answer it. Jesus had to be both man and God for many reasons. He had to be man to be the seed of Abraham. “And through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” Gen 22:18 “I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed,” Gen 26:4 “Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.” Gen 28:14 All these verses say that through Abraham’s seed (singular) all the nations of the earth will be blessed. The one seed to which this is referring is Jesus. Through Him we receive salvation, healing and have our needs met. "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Ph 4:19 "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isa 53:4-5 This is prophecy explained in Mt 8:16-17 "When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: 'He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases'." “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” Jn 3:16 However, to be a worthy sacrifice He had to have completely innocent blood. By Levitical Law, a sacrifice had to be with out blemish. “When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable.” Le 22:21 And 1 Peter 1:18-19 tells us that the blood that redeemed us was without blemish or defect. “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” 1 Pe 1:18-19 The way to be righteous is to be born of a woman. “What is man, that he could be pure, or one born of woman, that he could be righteous?” Job 15:14 Therefore, Jesus had to be born of a woman so that He could be righteous, or in right standing with God. The sin nature of man was passed from Adam to all of us through the blood line. When a baby is being formed in it's mother's womb, the chromosomes of its parents decide everything about it. This is so cool, don't miss this next point. The blood type is decided by the father's chromosomes. Therefore, Jesus had to be the Son of God to inherit His Father's blood line. This blood line was not corrupted by sin because there is no sin in God. Thus, the power of Jesus Christ that washes away sins and heals disease is found in the only completely pure and innocent blood ever on earth and that is the blood of God Himself. Jesus also had to be human by being the Son of David to have a right to the throne. "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up to David [Or [ up from David's line ] ] a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.” Je 23:5 ”In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land.” Je33:15 If you read Mt 1:1-17 (Christ’s genealogy through Joseph) you will see that by being Joseph’s son He was an heir to Israel’s throne. Although He wasn’t Joseph’s son because Joseph was His biological father, in fact Joseph wasn’t His father in that sense, God was (as I stated above). He was Joseph’s son because Joseph married His biological mother. Therefore, Jesus was the Son of God born of a woman and was without sin Himself, which made Him righteous and a worthy sacrifice. He qualified as an heir to the throne of Israel through Joseph. And He had to be Abraham’s seed to fulfill the covenant God made with Israel. Also, Jesus had to be a man because He was tempted in the desert by Satan. (Mt 4:1-11) Sorry, I’m not putting this on here because my answer is already quite lengthy, but I think I answered your question, if not just reply to this and be more specific and I’ll be more than happy to share what I know.
