Bible Question:
We are living in Germany and have a German friend that accepted Christ as Savior this past year. He has been asking a lot of questions about different topics and we have been able to have some good discussions with him. One question that he has asked and we have not been able to fully satisfy him deals with eternal salvation. How can he be sure that he can not lose his salvation. We have given him many examples from Scripture to answer this but he is still not convinced. Can anyone give me verses that will help him settle this in his heart? Thanks for your help. |
Bible Answer: Scripture abundantly affirms the Christian's eternal security; therefore it is not true that believers in Christ can lose their salvation. See Jn 3:15-16, 36; 10:27-30; Rom 8:35,37-39; Eph 1:12-14; 4:30; Phil 1:6; Heb 10:12-14; 1 Pet 1:3-5" (note at Heb 6:4, New Scofield Reference Bible, Oxford, 1967). * * * * * * * * * * Jude 1:1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: "preserved "Assurance is the believer's full conviction that, through the work of Christ alone, received by faith, he is in possession of a salvation in which he will be eternally kept. And this assurance rests only upon the Scripture promises to him who believes." Bibliography Information Scofield, C.I. "Scofield Reference Notes on Jude 1".
