AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 1:15 Some, it is true, are [actually] preaching Christ out of envy and rivalry [toward me--for no better reason than a competitive spirit or misguided ambition], but others out of goodwill and a loyal spirit [toward me]. |
Subject: Preaching from envy and strife? |
Bible Note: mommapbs, thanks so much for your answer. So, is it accurate to say that the people who preached Christ of contention assumed that Paul would be disturbed by their success, in other words, they felt he would be envious of them, and that was their primary motivation for preaching? Also, does the context of verse 14 indicate that even the envious preachers were brethren in the Lord? Just want to get my facts straight. Thanks again for your help. |
