Subject: Loving God with Heart vs Soul |
Bible Note: Thanks Hank. In the case of elaboration, I like the Amplified version of Deuteronomy 6:5 'with your entire being'. Your answer also reminds me of the teaching of old wineskins and new pieces of garment, e.g. you don't just put a 'patch' of Christianiy on, or adjust the 'old' wineskin; rather, you go 'new' and 'full' all the way, or full-time as you state. Interesting, as is the case with many of my lessons, God slows me down. That is, I was going to lead a study on the full verse and all four variables (heart, soul, mind, and strength). Long story, short, tomorrow we will just cover why we should love God, and just the attribute of loving Him with soul (found numerous wonderful models from the Psalms in terms of reference to the soul and devotion to God). Will cover heart, strength and mind next time, or two! |
