Subject: No promise land for Moses ? |
Bible Note: Yes this is true. Moses never went into the promised land. But theree is also a "typical" reason for his not being allowed in as well as a practical one. First, Moses represented the Law which could not bring salvation - which is also why the man who did bring the people into the land was Joshua which is akin to Yeshuah (Jesus) and means "salvation" - no justification on the basis of the Law. Second, Moses was then 120 yrs old and had spent 40 years in the desert because of their unbelief - does anyone really think he, at that age (though in perfect health), still wished to bring those complainers across Jordan and have to spend yet more years dealing with their hard hearts and murmuring and having to do more warfare? His mission was already accomplishe in bringing Israel to the knowledge of sin through the law etc. He was overdue for a good long eternal rest ! Not letting him in was God's blessing in disguise! |
