Subject: Who and what is this vers about? |
Bible Note: Hello Ray! Actually, I used the NASB which is my favorite translation. As for "no god besides Me", the NASB in Deut. 32:39 states, 'no god' and 'any rock' in 1 Sam. 2:2. However, the NASB does capitalize in 2 Sam. 7:22 stating, "no God besides You".. The NKJV in Deut. 32:39 states, "no God besides Me" and "any rock like our God" in 1 Sam. 2:2. Also, the NKJV 'agrees' with the NASB in 2 Sam. 7:22 by stating, "any God besides You".. The NIV in Deut. 32:39 states, "no god besides me" and "no God but you" in 2 Sam. 7:22, capitalizing "God" like the NASB and NKJV. However, the NIV does capitalize in 1 Sam. 2:2, stating "no Rock like our God".. The Amplified states capitalization in the same way that the NIV does in these verses. So here's a chart that explains the present study of capitalization.. Version........Deut. 32:39,1 Sam. 2:2,2 Sam. 7:22 ************************************************* NASB............No..............No........Yes NKJV............Yes.............No........Yes NIV...............No..............Yes.......Yes Amplified........No..............Yes.......Yes So why the discrepancy in capitalization? Good question! :) NIV - New International Version, Amplified - The Amplified Bible, NASB - New American Standard Bible, NKJV - New King James Version --Nolan |
