Bible Note: Dear Ovadyah, Sidney proclaimed that there was absolutely no other reason whatsoever for allowing a divorce except for sexual immorality. You see, I don't believe there's anyone who agrees with that. There are many legitimate reasons people divorce. Domestic violence, forced marriages, incarceration and much of what we see in our churches today, when one partner becomes saved and the other bolts. In Matt 5:32, Jesus was on the mountain speaking to his disciples when he declared that except for sexual immorality, divorcees who remarry commit adultery. In Matt 19:9, Jesus repeats basically the same teaching to the Pharisees as what he said to his disciples. How don't see any change in meanings to support your "CONTEXT" argument. Peace to you, Pete |
