Bible Question:
How come if men were to desire the women of their enemies they were to take them and make them their wives? - Deuteronomy 21:10-13 I thought that Isael was not suppossed to intermarry with their enemies because their enemies were pagans? 1 Kings 11:2 - you shall not associate with the women of the nations, etc. Which came from Deuteronomy 7:2-4 - destroy everyone and don't take the women as wives, etc. I am missing something here about Deuteronomy 21:10, is this talking about a different type of enemy? I thought there was Israel, and then everybody else who was not of God. Just a worthless son. blessings abound, bowler |
Bible Answer: Hi Bowler: The reason that they married pagans is because they were disobedient. Just like all men, we want what we want and we want it now! Just because we read it in the Bible, does not mean God approves. This is in God's word to show us that even though they were God's Chosen people, they still disobeyed Him continually. And that's just part of how we know that we need the Blood of Jesus to save us from this body of sin. Paul writes in Rom 7:24, Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? The answer is; Jesus Christ and the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit. We have only one enemy, the world, and it's desires, and satin as it's prince. Just another worthless son. God bless John |
